Whale Wars

This is my tribute to the Animal Planet series Whale Wars, which I'm currently watching. I used the most relevant photograph I have and edited in the whale, since I don't have any of actual whales.

I believe in what they fight for and appreciate their painful efforts to stop whaling.
Gradient mapped the photograph and hand-drew the whale (I'll probably touch up the whale soon, I just put it together on a whim), then used a GIMP tool to create the abstract designs. Arranged layers accordingly.
(This is actually Tybee Island in Georgia, near Savannah. It's a beautiful, clean beach.)

My Old Home

I know it doesn't look like anything spectacular, but this was a very crucial and memorable part of my life for a few years. It's one of the many identical work stations at my old high school. PLC was my home away from home and my teachers were (and are still!) my parents away from my parent. I miss it there terribly!

Smile Pretty

Me and my girlie, Nina, in one of her rare moments of making a cute face rather than an angry one. This was a rather hard shot to accomplish, considering Nina is not a big fan of being held, and tends to look every direction but towards the camera. I love this way it turned out.

Fly Sky High!

I was so incredibly happy to get this shot! I'd been outside for a long time, surrounded by Carpenter bees (which are practically harmless, by the way, unless you step on one or grab one...), trying to get at least one of the spastic little guys in focus, let alone in view! I finally got that 'lucky shot' and captured this one, who had been following me around the whole time, hovering near me curiously.

I just love the way it silhouetted. It almost looks gigantic, too. If they were that big I'd be inside in a panic room calling the National Guard, not out taking pictures (although some people find the latter more important).

IDK?

I have no idea how I managed to capture this, or what it even is. All I can remember is taking pictures while riding in the car through a city at night. I do know that I love the way it turned out and how mysterious it feels. The texture of the 'window' patterns looks as soft as velvet.

Endless Break is Endless...

...but it's over now, no worries. I'm back! I was taking a sort of...mental vacation, if you will. The great thing about managing your own blog is that you get to name your hours. For me that means: Endless vacation opportunities whenever I want!

That might not be the case when I get a bigger following, though. Maybe when I get to college I'll have more opportunities to get my blog into the world. That's the plan! :)

Anyway, here's a picture that, for once, I chose at random from my albums.
Cats are one of the animal species very skilled in making human-like expressions. This girly, Rufus (we thought she was a boy at first, okay?),  is making an expression close to a smirk or a dare. To me she looks mischievous and adventurous, like she's saying, "Come on, Deylah, let's explore the mysteries of the forest!"
